Week of May 21, 2023

Sermon Series • “Identity Verified: Humble (yet Empowered)” • 1 Peter 4:12-19, 5:6-11, Acts 1:1–11, Luke 24:44-53 Today we observe Ascension Day where we remember how, 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended bodily into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father (Acts 1:1-11). Jesus reigns in glory over all things, over every power, authority, and dominion, for the sake of His gospel and His church (Ephesians 1:15-23). We also wrap up our sermon series on 1 Peter, where we have checked our identities against who God has declared us to be in His word. We wrestle honestly with the paradox of being completely humble before God while acknowledging the “incomparably great power” Jesus, our risen and ascended Lord, has given us to live as the people of God.
