Week of May 14, 2023

Sermon Series • “Identity Verified: Prepared to Share” • 1 Peter 3:13-22, Acts 17:16–31, John 14:15–21 Easter Sunday and all the events surrounding Jesus’ victory brought us right up close and personal with who He is and all that He has done for us. Now during the season of Easter (the 50 days from Easter Sunday to the Day of Pentecost) we have an opportunity to check our identities against who God has declared us to be in His word. Jesus has made us to be a new creation through the power of His resurrection. What type of people does that make us as we serve Him and others in this world? To guide our conversations, we will be following the 1st letter written by the Apostle Peter, the one whose own identity as a child of God was verified when Peter was restored by His Risen Lord.

May 14 – “Prepared to Share” – 1 Peter 3:13-22, Acts 17:16–31, John 14:15–21
May 21 – “Humble” – 1 Peter 4:12-19, 5:6-11

Special: We thank God for the gift of our mothers today, especially for the ways they have modeled Jesus’ self-sacrificing love and care. • We thank the Lord for every opportunity to share His love with others. We ask that the Spirit would guide us into ways of always being prepared to give an answer for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus. • Jesus, bring peace and hope to our world through the power of Your resurrection. Where there is war and unrest, bring peace. Where there is evil, restrain it and cancel its power. Where there is hate, lead your people to overcome by Your love. • We pray for students, teachers, families, and schools as we approach the end of the school year. Bless and keep safe all students and educators, especially as students take end of the year tests and many enjoy proms and graduations. Sustain teachers in their vital role. Give wisdom to parents as they lead their families. • We ask the Lord to be with President Biden, members of Congress, and the Supreme Court, as well as all state and local leaders. • We ask the Lord to watch over and keep our first responders safe.
