CloseWhile it isn’t always obvious, God’s Word describes us as locked in a spiritual battle—“our struggle is not against flesh and blood,” the Apostle Paul writes. As the people of God, we are to stand firm against the schemes of the evil one. As daunting as that may sound, God’s power is greater than any other (after all, the Lord Jesus has overcome even death!), and He even outfits us with His armor, including defensive weapons of the Spirit as well as offensive weapons of the Spirit. Again, the instructions for God’s people: put on the full armor of God, pray in the Spirit, and stand firm. As we do, we never stand alone. The God of all grace is with us, the victorious Son of God reigns over us, and the Spirit of the living God is within us empowering us through the Gospel in all its forms. Have you ever felt defeated, or simply weighed down in your spiritual life? Remember Jesus’ victory for you! Pray in the Spirit. Drink deeply of His Word. Come to the table of the Lord. Put on His armor and stand in the power He provides. While you’re at it, encourage another person with the good news (Gospel) of all Christ has done for them and pray expectantly that the Spirit would be at work in their heart.
