CloseToday is celebrated in the church as Holy Trinity Sunday. In itself, it is an expression of our faith in one God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three Persons, co-equal, co-eternal, yet only one God. While our minds cannot fully conceive all that this means, we acknowledge it and profess this truth which God Himself has made known to us. In fact, because we serve the Triune God (“three-in-one”), that has implications regarding our identity as God’s children, how we call upon the Lord, and how we live. (In other words, it is much more than just “doctrine,” but it signifies much about the Christian life.) Have you ever thought about what it means that you are a child of God? How does the reality that we serve a God who has revealed Himself to us not only bring us assurance that we belong to Him but also clarity on what is necessary for us as we live out our faith in this world?
