Watching and Waiting: A Story of Being Ready

As God’s people we look forward to Jesus’ return with great anticipation, understanding that every day that passes we draw nearer to His coming again. As we keep watch, though, we do not just pass the days—we are the people of God, His chosen, His elect, His servants—and our lives are filled with purpose on account of Christ. Jesus’ words, powerful and life-giving, will never pass away. With His Word, we engage others and share the story of all He has done for us. In these last days, how do our lives tell the story of Christ’s coming? How does His Word enable us to engage others and point them to the hope that is only found in Jesus?

From Series: "The Story of His Coming"

The season of Advent is a time when we anticipate and prepare for Christ’s coming: preparing to celebrate with joy His coming on that first Christmas as well as preparing to receive Him when He comes again. The Scriptures that engage us during this season of Advent tell the story of watching, waiting, preparing, telling the good news, and trusting in God’s promises. In the midst of all the things that fill our lives with the busyness and the trappings of the season, our Lord fills us with something substantive to share: the hopeful expectation of Jesus’ coming, along with new ways to engage others as we tell His story.
