Spread the News

Today news spreads at an unprecedented pace—one “tweet” and the whole world knows. In the tightly connected towns in Galilee, word about Jesus spread like wildfire. Without a doubt, Jesus gave people something to talk about—He taught with authority and demons had to obey him. What makes the story of Jesus compelling today? His teaching continues to be relevant; His love continues to be extravagant; His power is life-transforming. Do you believe this statement: If the church focused on Jesus’ teaching, demonstrated His love without fail, and submitted to His power, the church would be ever more relevant in our day. Fix your eyes on Jesus—and spread the news!

What is the “job” of the church on earth? When we look to Jesus’ words in His great commission (Matthew 28:18-20), we hear His call to make disciples of all peoples by baptizing and teaching. Making disciples, sharing His love, bringing the good news of the Gospel…however you want to put it, empowered by the Spirit and driven by His love, that is our one job.
