Reveal the Mystery

This Sunday kicks off the season in the church year which we call “Epiphany.” Epiphany means to reveal, to make known, or to make plain. In God’s Word today we see how He used the star to reveal to the Magi the arrival of a newborn king, Jesus the Messiah. We also hear how God has revealed His plan of salvation for all people through Christ, and how that is made evident as the people of God live out their faith, able to approach God with freedom and confidence because of all that Jesus has done for us. In what ways through God’s word is the Spirit making clear to you the grace and freedom that is found in Christ? How is God using you to make that forgiving love known to others?

What is the “job” of the church on earth? When we look to Jesus’ words in His great commission (Matthew 28:18-20), we hear His call to make disciples of all peoples by baptizing and teaching. Making disciples, sharing His love, bringing the good news of the Gospel…however you want to put it, empowered by the Spirit and driven by His love, that is our one job.
