Prince of Peace

Jesus, our Lord and King, is called the Prince of Peace. He brings God’s peace (shalom) and makes us whole in every regard: peace with God; peace among peoples; restoration of relationships; and one day, peace to the ends of the earth once and for all. He is not only the type of Lord and King that we need, but this child comes for all the world. Where do you most need God’s peace and wholeness applied in your life? How will you be introducing others to THE Prince of Peace in the days ahead?

We’ve all heard the old adage, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” This season of Advent, we live with expectation as we await Jesus’ coming. That expectation finds its expression in our desire to know God more, to understand His heart, and more clearly see His purposes in sending Jesus as our Immanuel, “God with us.” This year we look at the Old Testament prophesy of Jesus’ coming, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders” (Isaiah 9:6). Isaiah’s prophesy then continues with names assigned to this child, and through these names, we get to know Jesus all the more, and it is in knowing Him that our lives are transformed.
