Message: “Persevering through Discouragement” from Rev. Ken Green

It is tough pushing through discouragement. At times, it may even seem impossible or pointless. (Are you discouraged by anything in life right now? Even the topic might be…well…discouraging.) The Lord has a powerful message for His people when they have been paralyzed by discouragement or are frozen by fear: “I am with you. Be strong. Do the work.”The Lord’s encouragement is rooted in the Gospel truth that Jesus did all the heavy lifting at the cross. God’s promises are sure, for in Christ He did come to be with us to give us hope. His Holy Spirit strengthens us, gives us courage, and quells our fears. God even says that it is He “who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13) How is God at work strengthening you today through His Word and Sacrament?
