Home for Christmas

Everyone wants to get home for Christmas, it seems. Many of us have personal stories of someone being “homeward bound” for the holidays. Tonight, we are drawn into the story of Jesus the Messiah, our Lord and King. With His arrival in this world as a baby, He makes this place His home, if only for a time. Ironic, isn’t it, that as He comes He has no real place to lay His head? Yet He comes to assure us of God’s grace and favor and to make a way for us to get home someday. He pledges that one day we will be at home with Him in His Father’s mansions above. What would it mean to you to get everyone in your family “home” someday, in that ultimate sense? How can you help others as we make this world—our temporary home—a better place for all? Will you help others find their way home to Jesus, the One Whose birth we celebrate tonight?
