He Became Sin...for Us

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:20). They say you cannot become something that you are not—and yet Jesus did just that. The Sinless One became sin for us. He has made us to be God’s righteousness. If you have ever been stuck and felt like things could never change, then this good news is for you. This is how Jesus has changed the world. While the ashes today remind us of our sin and mortality, the sign of the cross confirms Jesus’ victory over sin and death. Who do you know that needs the hope and peace that comes from knowing how Jesus changed the world? How will you pray for them this week?

From Series: "How Jesus Changed the World"

During these Sundays in Lent (a time in the church where we prepare for the great Easter celebration of Jesus’ resurrection), we zero in on ways in which Jesus exerted His divine authority, spoke truth with vivid imagery, and changed our eternal destiny. As the One who is fully-God and fully-Man, He singlehandedly changed the course of human history. As we fix our eyes on Jesus, we ask the questions: What does this mean for me? And how do I share this with others so that they, too, are drawn to our victorious and loving Lord?
