To say we are saved by grace alone is to acknowledge that our life in Christ—our hope and our salvation—as being pure gift. It is not something that in any way could be earned or merited, for the reality is that we all come into this world “dead in our transgressions and sins” (Ephesians 2:1) But because of who God is—because it is His disposition, His nature—He looks upon us favorably for the sake of Christ. That undeserved love God has for us and for all the world is what drove Him to give His Son for us. Have you ever received a gift that you didn’t deserve? Have you ever given one to someone? What impact did that make? What was the reaction?
Our “Foundations” sermon series focuses on foundational truths for those who follow Jesus, looking at these phrases: “Scripture Alone,” “Grace Alone,” “Faith Alone,” “Christ Alone,” and “Glory be to God Alone.”
