Give Up the Grumble

The Lord walks with us through this Lenten journey—in fact, He seeks to guide us in paths for righteousness for His Name’s sake (Psalm 23). Journeys, by their very nature, often involve embracing something ahead and leaving something behind. Equally important is where one chooses to place their focus throughout the journey, as that comes to define where one places their hope. Are we ever like the children of Israel, having everything provided by God yet prone to grumble anyhow? What would happen if we would fix our eyes squarely on Jesus, who was lifted up on the cross for our sins, and who has forgiven us and freed us to be people of light?

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” — Romans 12:2 Our Lenten journey towards the cross gives us an opportunity to be renewed by the power of God as His Spirit works through the Word and Sacraments. Invite someone to join you as together are we are transformed during this “Time for Renewal.”
