The Lord chooses Abraham and Sarah—and He sends them on a great faith-journey to “the land I will show you.” As the Lord sends them, He gives promises of great blessings—blessings that were not for them alone! As people chosen by God, they would bear these blessings wherever He would send them—so that “all peoples on earth” would be blessed through them. Today, you and I have been blessed with Resurrection-life through one of Abraham and Sarah’s descendants—that is, through Jesus, God’s Chosen One. Through the story of Abraham and Sarah, how does the Lord invite us to see ourselves as His “blessing people” in this world? You and I are sent every day among people who need the blessing of seeing Jesus and His love in action, and we are commissioned as His agents of blessing wherever we find ourselves.
“The Story” is an abridged, chronological version of the Bible laid out in the format of a novel. It can help people get a better sense of the Bible as one continuous narrative of God’s love, centering ultimately on the redemption He has given through His Son.
