Ch. 27 - The Unfinished Story of Easter

Jesus is alive! He rose, and His body is not in the tomb! New life has begun for all who know Him! But as Mark tells the story of the resurrection in His Gospel, it is odd how he ends the story so abruptly: “Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.” That’s no way to end a story! But Easter is much more than the story of how Jesus, once dead, rose again—THE STORY DOES NOT END THERE. This is our new-life story—God has written us into the script and He has made our very hearts beat to the rhythm of this new life. God’s promises are good! Evil and sin never get the final word! And our lives—now filled with His endless life—bear witness to the truth that Jesus has risen from the dead. Each of our stories are intertwined with that of our Resurrected Lord; ultimately our stories will be ones of death and resurrection, just like His. And everyday, the power of Jesus is at work in our lives. Since He has risen from the dead and lives and reigns to all eternity, how does that shape your story and mine every single day? Though the end of the story may be written, for us, in our lives, the story is yet unfinished.
