It took us 22 chapters of The Story, but we're finally here, the birth of Jesus, the Messiah King. The angel Gabriel comes to an ordinary girl, Mary, with extraordinary words: “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” The angel goes on to tell this virgin that she is about to have a child who will reign on David's throne forever. This child, Jesus, would be no ordinary child—He would be called “Son of the Most High” and the “Son of God.” He comes to usher in God's kingdom and bring about what God had long promised. In sending His Son, Jesus, God is working out His "upper story" plan for all people. Relate that to what He is doing in this humble, young virgin's life as she will bear the Messiah. More than that, relate how what God has done in Christ for the life of the whole world to the ways that God at work in your life today. How is He drawing you more and more into the fulfillment of His plans for you?
Winter & Spring 2015 -- “The Story” is an abridged, chronological version of the Bible laid out in the format of a novel.
