Belief: A Story of Holding to the Promise

Bible Text: Luke 1:26-38 |

Series:

It’s one thing to come face-to-face with an angel of the Lord. It’s another thing to hear such angel speak the words he does to Mary. “Highly favored.” “The Lord is with you.” “Do not be afraid.” And the ultimate word the angel speaks to this young virgin? “You will conceive and give birth to a son…the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.” What is one to do with the knowledge of something so incredible? Believe. Hold to God’s promise. This is what God is doing, according to His plan, and no plan of His will ever fail. So in humility Mary answers: “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.” What is the most difficult promise of God for you to hold onto? How might God use you to be a messenger of His promises to someone else?
