With Palm Sunday we launch into Holy Week. As we see Jesus enter into Jerusalem, it has tremendous significance for us who are seeking to adhere to “stay-at-home” directives. While we may feel powerless, Jesus is Almighty. While we avoid crowds, Jesus enters into the Holy City to shouts of Hosanna with the people pressing upon Him. The irony is that Jesus, God who has come in the flesh, true God and true man, will soon lay down His power to suffer and die for all humanity. His heart is one of courage and conviction, that of God’s Suffering Servant. As He moves through that Holy Week, Jesus will show what God’s power is all about—a powerful display of justice, mercy, and grace. How can you and I embrace the heart of Jesus, the heart of a servant? How will we lay down our lives for others as we share with them the undying love of Jesus?
