It’s not likely a familiar phrase: “a confident church.” Are churches called to be “confident”? Well…yes…we should absolutely be confident! We are the people of God, and our confidence rests not on who we are or what we have done—rather, our confidence rests upon the One we serve, upon Christ who calls us, upon the Risen Lord Jesus who is the Lord of the church. He’s the One who said, “Whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12). Do you believe we are a confident church? Or is this an area where we can do some growing, where we can make a new beginning? As a confident church, trusting in Christ, what would it look like to live out our faith with confidence and humility?
