All are invited for an afternoon of wonderful organ music and hymn singing! Dr. Jim Marriott from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis will present a beautifully arranged concert of favorite hymn tunes from throughout the church year. This concert also serves as the dedication concert of the recently refurbished pipe organ here at Prince of Peace. As with most concerts in our Concert Series, admission is free! A door offering will be collected, should you feel led to give.
About Dr. Jim Marriott
Dr. Jim Marriott currently serves as the Kreft Chair for Music Arts and Director of Musical Arts at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Holding undergraduate and graduate degrees in Parish Music from Concordia University, Nebraska, Seward, and Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, respectively, he recently received his Ph.D. in Liturgical Studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, with an emphasis in liturgical inculturation.
Marriott has served a variety of congregations across the United States, including Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle, Illinois, where he was the director of worship from 2009-15. Previously, he was the director of sanctuary worship at St. John Lutheran Church and School in Rochester, Michigan, from 2007-09, and the minister of music at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, from 2004-07.
He also founded and, until 2017, served as the artistic director for Evangelii, the youth choir of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisle, Illinois, which toured annually across the nation, including performances at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, the LCMS national convention, and other significant venues. He is a frequent composer, presenter, and performer, with hymn festivals scheduled this year in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
