LWML

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is an official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.

LWML gives women an opportunity to serve their Lord in the community and throughout the world. The women fund missions by using a little mite box. Men, women, and children are encouraged to drop in their loose change and then pray that the Lord will multiply what has been given to help support these many missions throughout the world. The concept is based on Mark 12:41-44 where the widow gave her mite out of poverty while the rich people gave from their wealth.

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” – Mark 12:41-44 NIV

Contributions are collected at Prince of Peace the third Sunday of each month. The women meet at church from September through May on the third Wednesday of each month. The meetings begin at 10:30 am and end around 12:00 pm.
